We teach skills like positive thinking, respect for authority, attention span, and good manners. The same values emphasized in your home are taught to our students using our martial arts method designed to keep them interested and motivated!

We would be happy to meet with you, answer your questions, and discuss a strategy that will be effective for your children and your entire family!

Director of Instruction

Dwight Trower is a nationally recognized martial arts instructor.  Mr. Trower began his training in the fall of 1981.  In 1982 he began studying traditional Tae Kwon Do with the Black Belt Karate Association and eventually purchased the school in 1991.  He has received instructor certifications and been awarded rank by some of the world’s leading martial arts instructors - Tae Kwon Do (Jim Smothers Sr.), Filipino Arts (Dan Inosanto), Lee Jun Fan (Dan Inosanto), Muay Thai (Ajarn Chai Sirisute).  Mr. Trower also has a background in amatuer boxing and kickboxing, and has studied Indonesian Pentjack Silat (Bukti Negara system under Pendekar Paul De Thouars) as well as other systems of martial arts.

Shortly after purchasing the school Mr. Trower changed the name to St. Louis Family Martial Arts Academy.  His goal is to provide the highest quality of martial arts instruction available while also teaching important life skills, developing character, and instilling the core values of Courtesy, Integrity, Self Control, Perseverance, and Indomitable Spirit in each and every student.

In 2010 Mr. Trower began developing a ground breaking martial arts curriculum for teenagers and adults with Down Syndrome and other disabilities.  This program has received national acclaim and is offered free of charge on a weekly basis in addition to our typical martial arts programs.
